How to Pass an Insulation Inspection, Day 46

So John the Builder is happy again, he got his signature which means they can drywall. And wow, drywall is not only fast, but makes the walls into well, walls.

Still no water in the bath tub.

Oops ran out of time.  They came back the next day, and then ran out of drywall!  Maybe the crane will come back

Day 44, Big Cranes are cool, aka If only we could pass the insulation inspection we could drywall

I think the no window look makes the house look hollow, but that guy is my buddy Steven, he is scared of me but I am going to turn him around.

Big trucks are cool.  My R even had to sign a waiver letting them drive on the grass.  Have they seen the grass?  Grass is actually a bit of a stretch.

Ah the open windows start to make sense.
I didn't get under that, I mean Steven looked competent, but that looks heavy.

Boards can fit in to the windows too!  I am told that is drywall, if we didn't fail the insulation inspection again.  John the Builder seems grouchy today.

Day 25 - Fire Trucks have long ladders

So Barkington got a new ladder truck recently and decided to demonstrate it at our house.  It was also the last day of school which was good timing since all my neighborhood friends got to see the demonstration.  They took video, but that takes a bit to edit, so I will post later.

Oh my buddy John the Builder wants everyone to know it wasn't his fault, nothing burned, he was just being cautious and my A's pellet stove wasn't behaving.

Sure was fun having so many people around.

How to fail an insulation inspection - June 20 Day 38

Poor John, his testing luck has run out.  He failed on the insulation portion, must have been an essay question.
But the siding is coming along

And remember my R worrying about the door.  She upgraded the situation.  It does look spiffy

And thankfully they listened to me and swapped the small window in the front with a matching one.  I was worried.

Day 37 Feeling Warm and Looking Blue

My A and R are very proactive.  Even though it is hotter than Hades right now, they are insulating the new part of the house.  Sure the guys look like they have heat stroke, but come winter it will be toasty warm, a little drafty from the holes in the ceiling.  My R says the holes are for A/C - well can't she make up her mind, does she need to be warm or hot.  John the contractor passed the rough electric and rough plumbing inspections on the first try.  He must be good!

How fast does siding go up? Not fast enough

But we got a roof on my porch and I am learning lots of Spanish words.  My R keeps looking at the guys funny and laughing, she doesn't know lots of Spanish but told me I am not allowed to write the words I am learning on a family ODD.  Great, now I have a family ODD, well my family is odd....

Dog's aren't colorblind - I can see BLUE (Day 35)

And no the blue color is not primer and I, Stephen the Dog, like it.  Apparently A and R are tired of the Tyvek branded house and are going with a more mono-chromatic, less wordy look.

Month 2 - Day 32, New sitting Spot

Just when I think my A and my R have forgotten me, they design a shade system for my favorite sitting spot.  I love them {----this---} much, which must be a lot because my R and my little a keep saying it with their arms stretched out. Humans are weird.

Day 30, It has been a month

Porch is framed, house is stripped, most windows are new.  Can someone tell A and R that leaving one window small and off center looks really dumb?

First they take out walls, then they put them back in...

My R has not Stopped kvetching about the door being close to the new wall.  I think she should be home more and travesties like this wouldn't happen.  Umm, what is the problem again?

Raining in the living room - Day 29

Rain drops keep falling on my head, rain drops keep falling in the living room?  So my A and R think they are MacGyver again.  Just a little bit of rain inside and they are upstairs duct taping plastic at 10:45 pm.

Spoiler alert: it turned out to be one area of the roof wasn't finished because of the chimney, all is fixed and we should be dry going forward.  Too bad, I get hot in the summer and rain really cools things off.

Day 28 More Pictures

Little a and k's new bath tub, it made it in the house and looks ready for a nice dip.  Although don't they know it isn't refreshing without water.
My A and R have a new crunchy bedspread.  I don't know why - it's like the are protecting their bed from me, but I haven't bothered to sleep on the bed in years.  Oh that window is boarded up because my R wanted a different size than the ordered.  Windows take a week to get R said.

I think all these boards are messing up the flow of my giant new room, but we do have stairs on the inside now!

Day 26 More destruction and on the Inside!

This is the same wall from both sides since you can now see through the walls.  Such a strange thing to do to a wall.  And my A and R say I make messes!

Up, Up and Away goes a Bathtub? Day 19

Plumbers do weird things.

May 30th: Day 17 and we are Waiting and Waiting on Windows

So remember that mini vacation we took?  I think the windows took a vacation too!  That's right we are getting windows.  My R and A finally figured out they were wrong and windows really make a room.  But now we are just waiting for them.  The plumber guys have been working up there, they must be having a water fight too because every time they come down they are dripping.  I like water fights, why are they excluding me.  It's hot outside, I'm going to ask them if I can play to.

Day 15 Playing with Bricks

It's been a few days.  We went for a vacation and I thought we would see crazy progress, but my A says my buddies wanted a vacation too.  They deserve it, they work hard.  Today they started playing with bricks, it's kind of like when little a and k play with blocks, but with grown men on tall ladders instead of the living room.

My R said they have to make our chimney taller so we don't burn down the house.

Day 11 - Construction guys are my friends

The construction guys show up at 6:50am which means I get to yawn, stretch and bark at 6:50am.  Then I go outside to greet them and let them know I am excited to see my buddies again.  I love this construction stuff.  I get to stay outside ALL day and my new friends seem to really like me.  They come and go during the day, but I give them a proper greeting each and every time they come back.  It's important that your friends know you care.

And the best part of my new friends?  They like to each lunch outside and I get to play with the lunch containers.  My R seems a little annoyed but she just doesn't get it, I think it is a guy thing.  I think I need a haircut in this picture, the rain is making me frizz.
Yup, rained again, but these construction guys are all right, they built me a tent and dug holes.  I tried to tell them that I can help dig holes, but they looked like they were having fun so I backed off.

So this is the house all wrapped up with no windows, but at least we will be ready for rain.  My R keeps saying she is the cause of the monsoon season, I think she has a god-complex though.  Dogs can't cause weather, I don't think people can.

I wonder why my A and R changed their minds on having windows?  How am I going to know when there are people I need to greet if I can't see out of my new room?  Oh and I was so wrong, not having a ladder is way worse than using a ladder.  I honestly don't know how I am going to jump up to the doorway, maybe they will build me a ramp.
